The historical approach complements, and in some cases critiques, previous research on the anthropology and psychology of violence in the human story. Unlike many previous works, this book does not focus only on warfare but examines violence as a broader phenomenon. Covering the period through to the end of classical antiquity, the chapters take a global perspective spanning sub Saharan Africa, the Near East, Europe, India, China, Japan and Central America. The first in a four volume set, The Cambridge World History of Violence, volume i provides a comprehensive examination of violence in prehistory and the ancient world. Is this the one you bought? I bought that one! LoL Btw, the Aristocrat trumpets & cornets (pre-selmer) were (are!) amazing horns.T h e ca m b r i d g e w o r ld h i s t o r y o f However, regardless of how well it might play, I'm pretty sure that in its day it was considered to be an advanced student model. If yours has sloped braces, or a lot of nickel trim, or satin silver plate then it may be an intermediate horn. Some Aristocrats had sloped braces and apparently became the 'Elkhart by Buescher' later in Buescher history. You can tell the quality by the level of the trim. I'm not entirely sure about the Aristocrat, but I don't think your friend is correct.

Their top pro horns were the Grand, the 400 and the Tru-Tone.

I've never played an Aristocrat, but if it's like other Bueschers, it's worth hanging onto. I own four of them-a Grand, a 400 and two TIS models. I really like the sound I get from Buescher trombones. That doesn't mean it's not a good player. Yours, with straight braces, no nickel trim, and really a pretty 'vanilla' style to it, was clearly an economy model. Their pro trombones had excellent craftsmanship and design characteristics that highlighted that craftsmanship like gold burnished engravings, French beaded bells, sloped braces, deco ferrules, asymmetrical slides, extensive nickel trim, etc. I'm not aware of any information regarding Buescher trombone that implies that the True-Tone begat the Aristocrat which begat the 400, but I'm certain that the Aristocrat and the 400 were produced concurrently so it's unlikely that the Aristocrat became the 400 unless you're referring to the post-Selmer 400s. The didnt become student line until selmer bought them later on. The aristocrat was one of their top pro horns. I talked to a friend of mine who knows alot about buescher.
